frequent the garden:
Warblers arrive in March to stoke up on insects for the remainder of their journey north or into the high Sierra. Yellow-rump, Townsend's and Black-throated Gray are regular. Other yard migrants:
Black-headed Grosbeak sings noisily from top of redwood, '06
Golden-crowned Sparrows, Hermit Thrushes and Juncos winter here.
Brown Creepers signal the end of migration in April.
We have a resident Red-shouldered Hawk. California Quail enjoy the salvia garden.
Nesters include Orange-crowned & Wilson's Warbler, Anna's & Allen's Hummingbird, Pacific-slope Flycatcher, Bewick's Wren, California & Spotted Towhees and Scrub Jay, Bush Tit, Wren Tit
In August Steller's Jays and Sonoma Chipmunks (Eutamis sonomae), and Eastern Gray Squirrels harvest the hazelnuts.
Other migrants are Fox Sparrows, Brown Creepers and Ruby-crowned Kinglets.
